On his current testing role with Williams
You can split my role into three different parts. I’m here as a reserve driver, so in case something happened to one of the drivers and they cannot race, I would have to step up and of course I’m ready to do it. Second, I’m taking part in tests, although Formula 1® has quite a restricted number of test days. I still have some possibilities to test the current car, which is good to keep up momentum and know what is going on with the car, to give better and more precise feedback to the engineers. I’m also doing the simulator. The role of F1® simulators have become more important due to the testing restrictions.
His greatest success
In karting, I was winning quite a lot at the international level in 1998-99. At that time, Italy had the strongest karting competition in the world. I was the first non-Italian to win that Championship when I was 13. I will always remember this win, especially since I did it with my parents and a mechanic friend. We were racing against the top teams; it was something special and unique to win.
I recently heard that I was going to be racing for Force India! But it’s just a rumour, unfortunately! Let’s say my first choice is the team that guarantees me a grid slot in Australia next year.
Want to meet Robert Kubica? The Pole will also be joining us in the Champions Club at the upcoming Italian Grand Prix, but spaces are limited!
